AFRICA INDUSTRIALIZATION DAY 2022.

 In July 1989, the Organization of African Unity (O.A.U) now African Union (AU) conducted it's 25th ordinary session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Africa lndustrialization Day was announced on November 20th during this session. Within the framework of the second industrial development decade for Africa (1991 - 2000), the United Nations General Assembly in December 1989, proclaimed 20th November "Africa lndustrialization Day" through resolution (A/RES/44/237). Since then, the United Nations system has held events that day throughout the world to raise awareness about the importance of Africa's industrialization and the challenges faced by the continent. Africa Industrialization Day is an event in which African governments and organizations come together to explore ways to facilitate and advance Africa's industrialization. It marks the start of Africa industrialization week with the African Union (AU) summit on industrialization and economic diversification taking place in Niamey, Niger Republic from 20th - 25th November, 2022. The theme for this year's Africa lndustrialization Day 2022 is: "lndustrializing Africa: Renewed commitment towards inclusive and sustainable industrialization and economic diversification".

WORLD DAY FOR THE PREVENTION OF, AND HEALING FROM CHILD SEXUAL EXPLOITATION, ABUSE AND VIOLENCE 2022.

On 7th November 2022, the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) through resolution (A/RES/77/8) voted to recognize November 18th as World Day For The Prevention Of, And Healing From Child Sexual Exploitation, Abuse And Violence which was introduced by first lady of Sierra Leone, Ms Fatima Maada Bio. In her address to the Assembly, Ms Bio said that the prevalence of child sexual abuse contribute to the global burden of disease and adversely impacts economic and social development, particularly in developing nations. The resolution was sponsored by Sierra Leone and Nigeria and co-sponsored by more than 120 countries. The resolution was adopted at the 77th United Nations  Assembly (UNGA) under Agenda item 131 "sexual exploitation and abuse: implementing a zero-tolerance policy".
