WORLD SOCIAL MEDIA DAY 2022

 Today, 30th June 2022 marks World Social Media Day. World Social Media Day was first celebrated by Mashable on June 30th, 2010 to focus on the impact of social media and its role in global communication. Mashable is known to use social media to connect various cultures, movements and fandoms. The first social media platform - Sixdegrees was launched in 1997 and was founded by Andrew Weinreich. The website permitted users to list their friends and family members and had various interesting features like bulletin boards, school affiliations and profiles. Social Media Day is celebrated across the world to highlight the importance of social media platforms and how they have impacted our day to day lives.

INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE TROPICS 2022.

 The innaugral state of the tropics report was launched on 29th June 2014, as the culmination of a collaboration between twelve leading tropical research institutions. The report offers a unique perspective on this increasingly important region. Marking the anniversary of the report's launch the United Nations General Assembly adopted resolution A/RES/70/267 in 2016, which declared that 29th June of each year is to be observed as the lnternational Day of the Tropics. The lnternational Day of the Tropics was designated to raise awareness to the specific challenges faced by tropical areas, the far reaching implications of the issues affecting the world's tropical zone and the need, at all levels, to raise awareness and to underline the important role that countries in the tropics will play in achieving the sustainable development goals. The lnternational Day of the Tropics celebrates the extraordinary diversity of the Tropics while highlighting unique challenges and opportunities

MICRO, SMALL AND MEDIUM-SIZED ENTERPRISES DAY 2022.

Micro, Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises Day is celebrated every year on 27th June. The United Nations General Assembly designated 27th June each year as "Micro, Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises Day " by resolution (A/RES/71/279) to raise awareness of the tremendous contributions of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSME's) to the achievement of the United Nations sustainable development goals (SDGs). MSME's account for 90% of businesses, 60% to 70% of employment and 50% of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) worldwide. As the backbone of societies everywhere, they contribute to local and national economies and to sustaining livelihoods, in particular among the working poor, women, youth and groups in vulnerable situations. This year's Micro, Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises Day 2022 is: "Resilience and Rebuilding: MSME's  for sustainable development" at the forefront of building back better and stronger from the impacts of the COVID-19 pandem

INTERNATIONAL DAY AGAINST DRUG ABUSE AND ILLICIT TRAFFICKING 2022.

 The lnternational Day Against Drug Abuse and lllicit Trafficking, or World Drug Day, is marked on 26th June every year, to strengthen action and co-operation in achieving the goal of a world free of drug abuse. INTERNATIONAL DAY IN SUPPORT OF VICTIMS OF TORTURE 2022.

On 12th December 1997, by resolution 52/149, the United Nations General Assembly proclaimed 26th June each year, the United Nations lnternational Day in Support of Victims of Torture and the effective functioning of the convention against torture and other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment. The United Nations lnternational Day in Support of Victims of Torture on 26th June marks the moment in 1987 when the United Nations convention against torture and other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment, one of the key instruments in fighting torture, came into effect. Today, the convention has been ratified by 162 countries. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) of 1948, Article 5 states that: "No one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment". INTERNATIONAL WIDOWS' DAY 2022.

June 23rd has been observed as lnternational Widows' Day since 2011 to draw the attention to the voices of widows, highlight the problems they face and galvanize the support that they need. International Widows' Day is a day of action to address the "Poverty and lnjustice" faced by millions of widows and their dependents in many countries. This year's theme for the lnternational Widows' Day 2022 is: "Sustainable solutions for widows financial independence. The day was established by the Loomba foundation to raise awareness about the issue of widowhood. June 23rd was chosen as the day to mark International Widows' Day as it was on this day in 1954 that Shrimati Pushpa Wati Loomba, mother of lord Loomba, became a widow. The first International Widows' Day took place in 2005 and was launched by Lord Loomba and Cherie Blair, the foundation's president. The day was formally adopted as International Widows' Day by United Nations resolution A/RES

UNITED NATIONS PUBLIC SERVICE DAY 2022.

 United Nations Public Service Day is celebrated on 23rd June every year. The prestigious UN Public Service Awards are given away on this day. The UN Public Service Day was designated by the United Nations General Assembly's resolution A/RES/57/277 of 2003, to "celebrate the value and virtue of public service to the community". The United Nations Economic and Social Council established that the United Nations Public Service Awards be bestowed on public service day for contributions made to the cause of enhancing the role, prestige and visibility of public service. The day also marks the anniversary of the date when the lnternational Labour Organization (ILO) adopted the convention on labour relations (public service), 1978 (No.151). This convention is a framework for determining working conditions of all civil servants across the world. INTERNATIONAL WOMEN IN ENGINEERING DAY 2022.

 International Women in Engineering Day is celebrated annually on 23rd June, to raise the profile of women in engineering and focus attention on the amazing career opportunities available to girls in this exciting industry. It celebrates the outstanding achievements of female engineers throughout the world. Originally, National Women Engineering Day, it was declared in the United Kingdom (UK) on 23rd June 2014 by the Women's Engineering Society (WES) to celebrate it's 95th anniversary. The National Women in Engineering Day became international day in 2017 due to the interest and enthusiasm developed by the global audience. International Women in Engineering Day has allowed women in engineering to be celebrated worldwide. This day is celebrated to honour women and girls currently studying engineering or working in the field. The theme for this year's lnternational Women in Engineering Day 2022 is: "lnventors and lnnovators". With a hashtag of #lmagineTheFuture.
