For over a decade now, Nigeria has been battling with overcoming her insecurity challenges. The Nigerian state has been bedevilled with criminal tendencies ranging from terrorism, trans- national crimes, insurgency, kidnapping and banditry. The Nigerian security architecture seems to be overrunned by the insurgents and bandits making most Nigerians to wonder whether they have the armed forces in the first place. Day in day out, Nigerians wake up with unpleasant news and gory sights of mass killings, kidnapping and abduction of citizens from different villages and urban centres across the country. Citizens and communities mostly in Northern Nigeria now sleep with one eye closed, with constant fear of attacks by the insurgents and bandits. The situation has gotten worse and out of control, to a dimension that most inhabitants of these villages now sleeps in the bushes when its nightfall for refuge and safety. From north to south, east and west of Nigeria, criminal elements has taken over the country carrying out their nefarious and evil activities of blood letting of innocent citizens of Nigeria. The situation is very worrisome most especially in Northern Nigeria. Insecurity is ravaging communities in Northern part of Nigeria, a lot of people are being kidnapped and killed in cold blood. People dont sleep at night for the fear of bandits and terrorists attack or being kidnapped for ransom. These killings, kidnapping, raping of women and abducting citizens for ransom has continued unabated with no end yet in sight, and from the look of things it seem as if the Nigerian armed forces has been defeated on their mandate of defending the country. Nigeria is under siege.
The continuous killings and the lingering ethno- religious crisis in Southern Kaduna between farmers and herders conflicts calls for serious concern and concerted efforts should be made by the government at all levels of governance to put an end to this dastardly acts by the perpetrators of this heinous crimes against humanity, and also to apprehend and fish out these criminals and bring them to book. The wanton destruction of lives and properties by the boko haram terrorist group, lslamic State of West African province (ISWAP) in Northern Nigeria and the indigenous people of biafra (IPOB) in the Eastern part of Nigeria is condemnable in its strongest term, and also a few pockets of kidnapping and assassinations in the Western parts of Nigeria calls for serious attention by the government to nip this acts in the bud. The right to life and the sanctity of life is one of the fundamental human rights of every citizen of Nigeria. And as such it is the constitutional rights of every Nigerian to have right to life, no citizen have any right to take the lives of another citizen. Northern Nigeria has been worst hits with violence and civil disturbances in the last decade. The upsurge of kidnapping for ransom has been prevalent both in Southern and Northern Nigeria, with of recent taking its toll in Northern Nigeria, where these unlawful gang groups has taken the law into their hands by kidnapping and killing their victims who do not meet up with their financial demands.
The senseless killings of innocent Nigerian citizens in Zamfara, Borno, Kaduna, Katsina, Adamawa, Yobe and Niger state by bandits and insurgents and every other parts of Nigeria is totally unacceptable and condemnable. These outlaws goes on a killing spree, ravaging communities and creating humanitarian crisis in Nigeria for no just reason. Hundreds of inhabitants of local communities in Nigeria has been displaced from their ancestral homes and made refugees. Many children has lost their parents making them young orphans, and many women has lost their husbands as bread winners in the family making them widows at a very young age with no sustainable livelihood. The negative impacts of insurgency and banditry in Northern Nigeria has caused economic losses and backwardness in terms of development to the affected states in Nigeria. Hence the government of Nigeria should redoubled her effort and take up the responsibility of protecting the lives and properties of her citizenry which is the primary responsibility of any responsible government. Enough is enough of the killings and wanton destruction of lives and properties in Nigeria, l stand to condemned this act and urged governments at all levels in Nigeria to do the needful and secure Nigeria. Nigeria is bleeding.
