STANDING UP FOR INCLUSIVE DEVELOPMENT

 

 The lnternational Day of United Nations (UN) Peacekeepers is celebrated every year on the 29th of May. This year's theme for 2022 is: "People, Peace, Progress: The power of partnerships".  This day is an opportunity to recognize the service and sacrifice of the more than one million personnel who have served under the blue flag since 1948. Peacekeeping has helped save countless lives and brought peace and stability to many countries over the decades. Let us all thank those who work in pursuit of peace and honour all peacekeepers who have lost their lives to ensure a peaceful world.

Comrade Enobong Ekwere is a social influencer, blogger, vlogger, human rights activist, peace practitioner, grassroot social mobilizer, SDGs advocate and a global citizen. He is the program manager of children and young people living for peace (CYPLP), an organic, volunteer of experts, youth focused and a think-tank non-governmental organization based in Kaduna state, Nigeria. A Higher National Diploma (HND) graduate of Public Administration (Upper Credit) from the Federal Polytechnic, Bida, Niger State, Nigeria. The "basketball for peace" initiative of children and young people living for peace (CYPLP) Nigeria is an annual basketball competition organized by CYPLP team that brings together youths and community members from different communities in Kaduna state, Nigeria through basketball to foster unity, tolerance, peaceful coexistence and social cohesion among the diverse communities, and to strengthen bonds and severed relationships between conflicting communities in Kaduna state, Nigeria to enhance sustainable peace and development.
