THE INTERNATIONAL DAY OF UNITED NATIONS (UN) PEACEKEEPERS 2022.

The lnternational Day of United Nations (UN) Peacekeepers is celebrated every year on the 29th of May. This year's theme for 2022 is: "People, Peace, Progress: The power of partnerships". This day is an opportunity to recognize the service and sacrifice of the more than one million personnel who have served under the blue flag since 1948. Peacekeeping has helped save countless lives and brought peace and stability to many countries over the decades. Let us all thank those who work in pursuit of peace and honour all peacekeepers who have lost their lives to ensure a peaceful world.

INTERNATIONAL DAY OF ZERO TOLERANCE FOR FEMALE GENITAL MUTILATION (FGM).

Female genital mutilation (FGM) comprises all procedures that involve the partial or total removal of the female genitalia for non-medical reasons. It most often involves the removal of girls and women external genitalia, and is recognized internationally as a violation of the human rights, the health and integrity of girls and women. Girls who undergo female genital mutilation face short term complications such as severe pain, shock, excessive bleeding, infections and difficulty in passing urine as well as long term consequences for their sexual and reproductive health and mental health. To mark today's international human rights day on the 10th of December 2021, l will use this medium to dwell on the issue of child labour which is a grave violation on the rights of children, and also want to use this medium to urged global leaders to do the needful to eliminate child labour globally because of the negative effects it has on the children.
