PEACE EDUCATION TRAINING PROGRAM, ROTARY BESPOKE POSITIVE PEACE AMBASSADOR PROJECT 2022.

 A one day peace education training program was carried out by me on the theme : "Activating positive peace through transformative pedagogy ". The event was held on saturday the 23rd of April 2022 at the Adonai children's home, barnawa, kaduna south, kaduna state, Nigeria. The peace education project was jointly carried out by a team of four Rotary bespoke peace associates from kaduna state in fulfilment for the award of ambasdador of peace program of Rotary international. The team include myself Mr. Enobong Ekwere (Team leader), Engr. Abdulrahman Hassan (member), Mr. Oche Eche (member) and Mr. Yusuf Musa (member). The project was centred on one of the eight pillars of positive peace, which is good relations with neighbours. Each of us as a team presented a brief interactive peace education and peace building training sessions using transformative pedagogy approach to teach the children the virtues of good neighbourliness and the need for good relationships within the family circle as the smallest unit of the society and to also extend it to the larger community. The training sessions lasted for one hour thirty minutes. As a team, in our own little capacity to support these vulnerable children and the orphanage home, we presented a token as a gift to the orphanage home which include : two cartons of bar soaps, rolls of sachet detergents and toiletries as part of our corporate social responsibilities for the upkeep of the children.

MY CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE OBJECTIVES AND GOALS OF THE ROTARY INTERNATIONAL.

Iam presently a strong candidate for one of the slot, out of the 80 fellows to be selected worldwide for professional development program of the Rotary Peace Fellowship for the year 2022/2023, to pursue a professional development certificate in peace in one of the outstanding universities (Chulalongkorn university, Bangkok, Thailand and Makerere university, Kampala, Uganda) affiliated with the Rotary Peace Centres (Rotary Foundation). My contributions as an advocate of Rotary lnternational that has been trained on positive peace frameworks and as an ambassador of peace, iam committed and dedicated through selfless service, service above self to humanity and my community to come on board and add immense value to the ideals of Rotary lnternational through the establishment of a Rotary Community Corps (RCC) Program in my community, which is presently not available, so as to create an avenue and a laudable platform for non- Rotarians, associates and friends of Rotary lnternational who share out commitments to come on board and leverage on this platform to changing the world through service projects. The Rotary Community Corps (RCC) will be established to work with the local Rotary club of kakuri, Kaduna state, Nigeria (District 9125), to recruit RCC members to ensure that local needs are met, and that projects impact lives in the community long after Rotary's direct support ends for scalability and sustainability. RCC members will be committed to this cause to ensure sustainability of projects. The essence of the establishment of the Rotary Community Corps (RCC) in my community is to add up and increase the already existing and more than 11,000 corps in 105 countries and 257 districts worldwide and also to increase the number of approximately 47million volunteers hours each year.

Iam committed to join Rotary lnternational District 9125, Kakuri, Kaduna State, Nigeria, as my local Rotary lnternational district, upon the completion of my fellowship program, to become a Rotarian and to step down the knowledge and skills gain through the fellowship program to other Rotarians, Rotaracts and associates of Rotary club at my community level for knowledge transfer and exchange through peer to peer learning and for a lifelong learning. And also to use the knowledge and skills gain through the fellowship program to contribute to my community development through initiated social change projects.

CELEBRATION OF THE ANNUAL ROTARY INTERNATIONAL DAY (23RD FEBRUARY).

As an associate of Rotary lnternational, and an aspiring member that will add up to the 1.4million membership worldwide, it has always been a yearly ritual and tradition for me to join in solidarity to celebrate Rotary day on 23rd February each year alongside with other Rotarians, Rotaracts, associates, peace practitioners, actors, and advocates of peace in my community to converged and share stories, experiences and to celebrate the laudable works of Rotary lnternational over the years.

SCALING UP HUMANITARIAN PROJECTS IN MY COMMUNITY TO TOUCH LIVES AND REACH OUT TO THE VULNERABLE POPULATIONS IN NIGERIA.

As an associate of Rotary lnternational and a development expert working with a local non-governmental organization based in Kaduna State, Nigeria, my core values and organizational thematic areas of focus aligns with that of the Rotary lnternational. These thematic areas of focus includes;
1. Promoting peace. (SDG 16+)
2.Fighting disease.   (SDG 3)
3. Providing clean water. (SDG 6)
4. Saving mothers and children (SDG 3)
5. Supporting education.             (SDG 4)
6. Growing local economies.      (SDG 8 and 9)
7. Supporting the environment. (SDG 13 14 and 15).

There is a nexus and strong connection of Rotary lnternational focus areas with the Global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations. My tasks as an advocate of peace and sustainable development, l work assiduously to scale up humanitarian projects to the most hard to reach local communities in Nigeria, touching the lives of the most vulnerable, marginalized, unserved, underserved, underrepresented communities and disadvantaged populations of youth, girls and women using entrepreneurial skills development and vocational skills as a veritable tool to train vulnerable populations on trades and soft skills to make them become self reliance for sustainable livelihood, in other to enhance job creation and wealth generation that will stimulate local economies sustainably. I dedicate my time, energy, knowledge, skills, expertise and resources to scale up project initiatives and activities at the local community level for greater social impact to ensure that these goals are achieved by the global mandate of 2030 in Nigeria.

SCALING UP ADVOCACY CAMPAIGN TO ERADICATE CANCER IN NIGERIA AND TO ACHIEVE THE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOAL 3 (GOOD HEALTH AND WELL-BEING) BY 2030 IN NIGERIA.

As part of my mandate to fight diseases and ensure a world free from diseases, l have embarked on project initiatives that brings into light the much needed sensitization awareness campaign programs both online and offline for public education. I initiated a community based initiative called "Community health based volunteers program" to train young people at community level on the sustainable development goal 3 (Good health and well-being) and goal 6 (Clean water and sanitation) to scale up advocacy on cancer and other related diseases and to take action as social change agents and as gatekeepers and advocates of health in their various communities to amplify their voices for the achievement of the universal health coverage in Nigeria. I also used my personalized blog to write compelling, educative and informative articles on health related issues and diseases for visibility. This can be viewed here below;

WORLD POLIO DAY - ROTARY'S GOAL IS TO ERADICATE POLIO WORLDWIDE BY 2030.

World Polio Day was established in 1985 by Rotary lnternational to commemorate the birth of Jonas Salk, who was the led medical researcher of the team that developed a vaccine against polio. He developed the inactivated polio virus vaccine, which first came into use in 1955. This was further developed as the oral polio vaccine by Albert Sabin, which came into use in 1961.
 Today, the polio vaccines are recommended all over the world, particularly for children under the age of five, who are the most vulnerable to the infection. Every year on 24th October, World Polio Day is observed to raise awareness of the importance of polio vaccination to protect every child from this devastating disease, and to celebrate the many parents, professionals and volunteers whose contributions make polio eradication achievable. World Polio Day highlights the global efforts to end poliomyelitis (polio) worldwide. Polio is a life threatening disease caused by the polio virus. To ensure a polio free future for everyone, efforts must continue to maintain high immunization coverage, implement high quality surveillance to detect any presence of the virus, and prepare to respond in the event of an outbreak. The theme for this year's World Polio Day 2022 is: "A healthier future for mothers and children".

HEEDING TO ROTARY'S " SERVICE ABOVE SELF " MOTTO:

"Service Above Self" is the motto adopted by Rotary lnternational, which signifies the belief that Rotarians would put their duty to help others before their own needs.

                THE ROTARIAN PLEDGE

Iam  a Rotarian, l will always uphold the truth. Iam a Rotarian. I will always strive to be fair in all my dealings with my fellow human beings.

ROTARY CONNECTS THE WORLD WITH LAUDABLE COMMUNITY PROJECTS THAT TOUCHES LIVES.

ACTIVATING POSITIVE PEACE IN NIGERIA THROUGH PEACE EDUCATION AND PEACE BUILDING PROCESS TO ENHANCE TRANSFORMATIVE CHANGE IN OUR COMMUNITIES.

WE NEED PEACE IN KADUNA STATE AND NIGERIA.

Kaduna state, Nigeria has been bedeviled with incessant ethno-religious conflicts among various local communities in Kaduna state, Nigeria, these ugly scenario's has caused colossal loss of life and properties worth hundreds of millions of naira in losses. The existential threats of insurgency, militia groups, kidnapping for ransom and banditry has exacerbates the level of insecurity in Nigeria. Hence, there is a greater need for peace education and peace building processes to be establish in local communities in Nigeria to build unity, tolerance and social cohesion among community members in a pluralistic society like Nigeria to bring an end to this henious crime against humanity.

KADUNA STATE, NORTH WEST, NIGERIA.

WE NEED PEACE IN OUR COMMUNITIES TO MAKE THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE FOR ALL OF US TO LIVE IN.

War is not the answer. We need peace. Peace for the world. Peace now. The world and humanity has had enough of wars and communal conflicts, so there is every need for all of us in our own little spaces to contribute our own little quota in building blocks of peace through peace education in our society for peace to prevail. If we all can do this, l think we can achieve world peace for a better and safer world.
