International Day of the World's lndigenous Peoples is celebrated every year on the 9th of August. The theme for this year's lnternational Day of the World's lndigenous Peoples 2022 is "The Role of lndigenous Women in the Preservation and Transmission of Traditional Knowledge", let us recognize that indigenous women are the backbone of indigenous people's communities and they can play a crucial role in the preservation and transmission of traditional ancestral knowledge. Let us all pledge to protect and promote our culture and preserve our identity. Indigenous peoples are the keepers of unique traditions, languages and knowledge. Yet, they continue to face overwhelming marginalization, discrimination and exclusion. On this day and everyday, let's celebrate the incredible diversity of the world's indigenous cultures and stand up for their rights to be protected everywhere. Indigenous people's rights are human rights.
