2nd July 2022 marks the lnternational Day of Co-operatives. The lnternational Day of Co-operatives is an annual celebration of the co-operative movement observed on the first saturday in July since 1923 by the lnternational Co-operatives Alliance, marking the centenary of the establishment of the lnternational Day of Co-operatives. On 16th December 1992, the United Nations General Assembly proclaimed by resolution A/RES/47/90 the first saturday of July 1995 to be lnternational Day of Co-operatives. Since 1995, the United Nations lnternational Day of Co-operatives has been observed jointly alongside lnternational Co-operative Day. On July 2, co-operatives all around the world will celebrate the 100th lnternational Day of Co-operatives. A decade on from the United Nations lnternational Year of Co-operatives, which showcased the unique contribution of co-operatives to making the world a better place. The theme for this year's lnternational Day of Co-operatives 2022 is: "Co-operatives Build a Better World".

Through my position as the program manager of children and young people living for peace (CYPLP) Nigeria, l have carried out people oriented projects and program activities that geared towards promoting peace, tolerance, peaceful coexistence, social cohesion and intergenerational harmony among local communities in Nigeria. My projects and program activities also geared towards promoting good governance and democracy in Nigeria, citizen's engagement, entrepreneurship, accountability and probity in governance, civic education and political participation.
