World Refugee Day is an international day organized every year on 20th June by the United Nations (UN). It is designed to celebrate and honour refugees from around the world. The day was first established on 20th June 2001, in recognition of the 50th anniversary of the 1951 convention relating to the status of refugees. The theme for this year's World Refugee Day 2022 is: "Whoever, Wherever, Whenever. Everyone has a right to seek safety". This day is marked to honour the more than 80million people across the globe who have been forced to leave their homes. And to recognize the plight of millons of people who are forcibly displaced, who leave their homes, desperate to survive and are forced to seek asylum. On this World Refugee Day, l join hands with UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency to reiterate that every person has the right to seek safety. I express solidarity with all refugees worldwide. Nobody should be forced to flee their home due to conflict, violence or persecution. Whoever, Wherever, Whenever. Everyone has the right to seek safety.
