A WELL DESERVED JUSTICE FOR HANNIFA.

The sad incident of the abduction and killing of a five year old girl, Hannifa Abubakar in Kano state after the collection of a six million naira ransom by her Islamic school teacher, Abdulmalik Tanko who happens to be the kidnapper of hannifa was in the public news, the revelation of this sad tragic incident shocks the entire country and people to their bone marrow on the level of man's inhumanity to man. This incident is the height of wickedness one can think of, and it leaves one to wonder what could have drove Abdulmalik Tanko to commit such a heinous crime? Is it the love of money? Your guess is as good as mine. Hannifa's incident is one too many of the evil acts that are prevalent in our society today. Little Hannifa was killed, her body chopped off into pieces and put into a sack bag and buried in a shallow grave. This incident gives me a deep concern on the mental state of the culprit because to me what could drive a sane man to kill an innocent child just for no reasons. Abdulmalik killed hannifa on the premise that the little and innocent girl recognizes him as her school teacher, so in the bid not to be exposed, the only option left for him is to eliminate the little girl to cover up his atrocities. There is no justifications whatsoever in the action of Abdulmalik Tanko in the killing of little hannifa, it is pure wickedness, an evil and criminal act that is against the law of the country.

THE VICTIM - FIVE YEAR OLD HANNIFA ABUBAKAR.

Kidnapping for ransom has been the new criminal act that is bedevilling Nigeria today. Young and middle age people now sees this act as the fasted money making venture to success and stardom. The high level of unemployment and poverty are the immediate causes that pushes this group of young men into this criminal act. But is that an excuse for young people to be engaged into crimal tendencies and be recruited into gang groups? The answer is capital no. The love for money, affluence and materialism has push so many young people into committing criminal and evil acts just for the sake of acquiring wealth and social status in the society. The are limitless opportunities that abound in Nigeria for young people to explore and eke out a living for livelihood. Criminality is not an option, and it will never be.

THE CULPRIT - ABDULMALIK TANKO, HANNIFA'S ABDUCTOR, KILLER AND ISLAMIC TEACHER.

The kidnapping and subsequently killing of little hannifa by her Islamic teacher brings to the fore the high level of societal rots, mistrust, betrayal and the erosion of our societal values as a people and society as a whole. This sad incident further shows the extent on how some people can be so heartless and can go the extra mile in even spilling innocent blood all in the name of making quick money. Little hannifa might be dead and gone, but her sad story is an eye opener to parents and the larger society to be watchful of the kind of people we entrust and allow our children to be associated with. Nobody in his or her wildest dream would have ever thought  that an Islamic teacher a respected religious leader would descend that low all in the quest of making fast money. This goes to show how bad our society have found itself, the situation is getting worse everyday that people now hardly believe and trust their next neighbour anymore.

JUSTICE SERVED.

The Nigerian judicial system rose to the occasion by letting the long arm of the law takes it cause. Abdulmalik Tanko was last week sentence to death by hanging by the federal high court sitting in Kano, just few weeks of committing the dastardly act of kidnapping and killing of hannifa. This goes to show the quick and timely response to justice by our judicial system. Kudos to our judicial system for acting fast to get justice for hannifa. They should be applauded for this feat. The quick dispensation of justice by the Nigerian judicial system in the case of the killing of Hannifa Abubakar and the handing over of a death penalty by hanging to Abdulmalik Tanko is a well deserved justice for Hannifa to serve as a deterrent to other perpetrators of this evil act. No evil deed should go unpunished.

THE RISING INSECURITY CHALLENGES IN NIGERIA.

For over a decade now, Nigeria has been battling with overcoming her insecurity challenges. The Nigerian state has been bedevilled with criminal tendencies ranging from terrorism, trans- national crimes, insurgency, kidnapping and banditry. The Nigerian security architecture seems to be overrunned by the insurgents and bandits making most Nigerians to wonder whether they have the armed forces in the first place. Day in day out, Nigerians wake up with unpleasant news and gory sights of mass killings, kidnapping and abduction of citizens from different villages and urban centres across the country. Citizens and communities mostly in Northern Nigeria now sleep with one eye closed, with constant fear of attacks by the insurgents and bandits. The situation has gotten worse and out of control, to a dimension that most inhabitants of these villages now sleeps in the bushes when its nightfall for refuge and safety.
